Dartmouth to Dartmouth Castle
Hop over on the ferry and follow the river out to the castle guarding the mouth of the Dart.
About 2 miles there and back 1 hour Easy
Take the little passenger ferry across from Kingswear and wander along the Dartmouth waterfront, past Bayard's Cove and its old cobbles.
From there the lane climbs gently above the river and drops down past Warfleet Creek to Dartmouth Castle, a 14th-century fortress sitting right on the rocks at the mouth of the estuary. At low tide you can scramble on the little beach below it.
If your legs are tired, the castle ferry will take you back into town.
