Greenway by ferry and footpath

In the summer the easiest way to reach Greenway is by ferry, a lovely trip up the river from Dartmouth with views of the wooded banks all the way. Check times with Greenway Ferry (greenwayferry.co.uk) or Dartmouth Steam Railway & River Boat Co. (dartmouthrailriver.co.uk).

You can walk it too, heading upriver from Kingswear along the Dart Valley Trail through woods and lanes above the water, but be warned: it's a fairly long walk, so give yourself plenty of time and wear good shoes.

Agatha Christie's riverside holiday home is now looked after by the National Trust, and the woodland garden runs right down to the Dart. Allow plenty of time to explore.

A good plan is to walk one way and catch the ferry back, or return on the steam train to Kingswear.
